Syncpropypeg : I'm listening to it as I type this

I wonder how one "discovers" that you are Jesus. Do you just suddenly remember being nailed to a 2x4?

A neuron-scientist believes him? Really? Really?!

momeNemelve : Desperate people will do, and believe, almost anything for a chance at hope. Some people thought John the Baptist was the Savior and others, Moses. Were those people any less sane? I'm not challenging you, merely stating the fact that this world is a scary place and anything (or one) that promises hope and peace is welcomed.

starrjcrousey : Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law,

Not really. But it does tell us that people can be swayed to strange ideas. Perhaps they just like the guy. Perhaps it's ironic to support him, or any number of things. Religion, however can be a very rational thing, or in cases like this, very absurd thing. It is largely dependent on what type of person it has appealed to.

Love is the law, love under Will.

Jonut : Matthew 24:24
“For false Christs and false prophets will arise and will show great signs and wonders, so as to mislead, if possible, even the elect.

This one is obvious. What about the ones who bear a closer resemblance to Christ, yet are still full of dead men's bones, offering people slavery to their personality cults? It happens all too often.

God said it would. Surely you are not surprised?

aliefique : It is quite amazing to see in this day and age. You would think education and literacy would increase people's critical thinking skills - but I guess it doesn't.

Jeniferxfs, : I completely agree with you. I have come to realize that people follow religion not because it gives them evidence but because they need to believe in something otherworldly to convince themselves that there is actually meaning to life.

jeneIncizeped : Yes, in fact it does. It's the 'Life of Brian' -principle: any idiot can get followers, let alone someone who is not an idiot, but intelligent and charismatic. And God help us if the guy in question (and it's ALWAYS a GUY) is not only intelligent and charismatic, but also has an agenda beyond getting all the green and tail he can get his hands on.
